Sunnyside School (aka Sunnyview School)

This school was located west of Marquette on Cedar Road and operated until in the early 1940s(?). The school was purchased by Walter Walker, Sr. and moved to a location on Cty B (north of the Grand Valley Campground), where it  was later incorporated into a new structure for a private residence.

LaVida Schoeffel taught at this school. Also, a Grace Root was a teacher at the school who was from Berlin.

LaVida took many pictures of her students and their activites between 1936 and 1939 and created a wonderful album which was donated to the Marquette Historical Society on 11-19-96 by Ruth Plautz.

Some students who attended the school: Virginia Schimming, Arnold Hoffman, Maurice Whirry, Merlin Hoffman, Vicent Kohn, Clifton Kohn, Verna Hoffman, Mildred Hoffman, Harley Hoffman, Eldon Kohn, Jim Schulz. Patricia Schulz, Austin Schulz, Pat Cowley nee Whirry, Don Schulz,, Wilis Schulz..When the school closed the students then attended the elementary school in Marquette.
